Plumbing Emergencies

Depending what the emergency is, we may be able to offer some advice on what to do or what not to do over the phone, whilst we get an engineer to you as soon as possible.

The most time critical emergencies are usually leaks, either water or gas, in which case the most urgent thing to do is to turn off the supply. Knowing where and how to do this ahead of an emergency can be invaluable. If you aren’t sure where the mains water stopcock is or how to turn off your gas supply, please ask us to show you.

Most water leaks are the result of connections or values failing. We carry an extensive range of replacements (including ball valves which do degenerate with time) and can usually fix the problem on the spot. If the problem is more major (such as a leaking cylinder rather than the connections), we will need to source a new one, but this can be done very quickly, often same day, and we will immediately stop the leak so that no further damage is done.

Less time critical emergencies include boiler breakdowns, pump breakdowns, problems with immersion heaters and the replacement of hot and cold water tanks. When we say less time critical, a cold house or building is no fun and we address these problems as swiftly as possible.

If the emergency involves an insurance claim, we will provide the necessary documentation to enable you to sort the claim out.
